Naturalist and Safari Guide
His/her role is to lead your safari game drives, serve your park breakfasts, interpret and spot wildlife, ensuring your safety and enriching your experience with their knowledge.
Suggested Tip: ₹500 – ₹1,000 per safari, depending on the quality of service, sighting, experience and your personal satisfaction.
Safari Driver or Tracker
He/she are expert navigators on rough safari roads, watching out for pugmarks and wildlife tracks, communicating with guides/naturalists, ensuring you get best opportunity of sightings and photography angles.
Suggested Tip: ₹300 – ₹500 per safari, depending on the quality of sighting, experience, driving skills, and your personal satisfaction.
Lodge and Camp Staff
Most of the wildlife lodges and safari camps have a Common Tip/Gratuity Box kept mostly at the Reception or Lobby area and its equally distributed amongst all the employees.
Suggested Tip: ₹750 – ₹2000 per guest/couple per night
Please Note:
For the guides/naturalists and drivers, tipping at the end of your last drive is most common. Similar for the lodge and staff tips, place them in the communal box on your last day.
Airport Transfers Driver
His/her role is to receive you at the arrival, handle your luggage and transfers between airports, train stations, lodges, and national parks
Suggested Tip: ₹200 – ₹500 per transfer
Tour Leader or Your Travel Planner
If you are on a Privately guided safari or with a Travel escort, who looks after your complete India itinerary and ensures your entire trip goes hassle free, smooth and as per promised schedule. He/she must also be accompanying you on your safari and documenting memories of your travel.
Suggested Tip: ₹500 – ₹1500 per guest per day, depending on duration and quality of service.
Please Note:
If you are traveling in a group, to avoid confusion it’s better to combine tips in an envelope and give. For the drivers, and tour leaders tipping at the end of your last drive/stay at India is most common.
You may also tip in your Home Currency if unable to withdraw cash or short in INR.
