The Legend of Brother’s Fort
Derived from Bandhav (brother) and Garh (fort), it is believed that Lord Rama built this fort and gifted it to his brother Lakshman, following their victory in Sri Lanka. The remnants of this storied past are visible as you traverse in the park. Its ancient caves, and inscriptions prove this forest has been a centre for human settlement for millennia, even mentioned in the Shiva Purana.

SAFARI ZONES IN BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK
Originally the hunting grounds of Maharaja of Rewa, Bandhavgarh was notified as a national park in the year 1968. It was declared Tiger reserve in 1993 with core area of 716 sq.km and buffer area of 820 sq.km

Park safari booking open 120 days prior to safari date. Since the number of Jeeps permitted for safaris is limited the tickets get sold out almost immediately.
Peak Season (mid Dec – mid June), Festivals and long holiday weekends get sold out too quickly. We recommend to book your tour 5-6 months well in advance
Carry your ID proofs in the park, which was used at the time of safari booking with your safari tour planner
Safari Jeeps are well suited for 2-4 guests per vehicle. A park guide and driver/naturalist are mandatory to accompany
